You are a good parent. Your t(w)een is a good kid. Really.

It is so easy to get triggered when
our children shut us out,
“won’t listen,”
don’t seem to want to cooperate,
or are having trouble in social settings or school.
It can be hard to remember to plug in a little play, set a limit with warmth, or stay present and listen to the tough things our children share or show us.

The Hand in Hand tools are powerful for connecting with our children, but the way in which we use them changes as our children get older. Even parents who have been using these tools for many years, find that in order to use the Hand in Hand tools to support their t(w)eens well, they may need more support themselves.

That’s where the benefit of being listened to can be transformational!

Kirsten and Ravid offer a regular weekly Skillbuilding Group (4 or 8-week options), for parents who have already taken a Hand in Hand Foundations/ Starter Course, a Raising Happier T(w)eens Class, or equivalent. Here you will get a chance to dive deeper into practicing the tools with your t(w)eens, be offered refresher ideas, to ask questions, share experiences, and get oh-so-powerful Listening Time.

***This group does not give you access to an online classroom. It is meant to build on the skills you have learned from a previous Hand in Hand class.***

Register Here for the Skillbuilding Group for Parents of Tweens
https://www.handinhandworkshops.com/events/tweens-sbc-feb-apr-2024/

If you are interested in taking a Hand in Hand Foundations/ Starter Course specially designed FOR PARENTS OF T(W)EENS, we are offering our next 6 week Raising Happier T(w)eens Class starting March 14, 2024, which includes access to an online classroom full of videos, suggested readings, and homework assignments . Please join that class if you’d like to get a deeper understanding of using the tools with your t(w)een. See info for this class here.

Deepen Your Hand in Hand Parenting Journey in a Supportive Group Setting

Parent support groups offer a valuable opportunity to solidify the Hand in Hand parenting tools you’ve learned and navigate the challenges inherent in parenting. My ongoing groups foster deep trust and safety among participants. This supportive environment provides a safe and welcoming space to refine skills and delve into the challenges parents face.

I’ve led diverse groups for mothers, fathers, and mixed-gender groups. My current group participants are mothers and non-binary parents who feel comfortable in spaces connected by the experience of parenting in a female body. Groups have 4-6 participants and meet for 90-120 minutes, depending on the group size.

Participation requires prior completion of a Foundations (Starter) class or equivalent experience. Please reach out if you have any questions about your readiness for a support group or to schedule a free intake call if you’re ready to join.

When and Where:
Parent support groups meet online twice monthly. There are two groups:

Weekly Parent Support Calls on Wednesdays with Madeleine Winter

Get support for your parenting without leaving home! Join this small ongoing group of parents, for as many, or as few, Calls as you want.

  • ask your parenting questions
  • share your experiences;
  • get company on the journey and know that you are not alone in this important work,  and
  • reduce your parenting stress by through advice-free listening support.

Learn new skills for building closeness and setting limits to improve your relationship with your children and avoid angry words and impossible power struggles. Using our practical approach, you can help your children back onto the path of reasonableness and co-operation, and spend more time enjoying your children and your family.

Parenting can be challenging at the best of times.  Sometimes you just need information: “What do I do when my child tries to hit me?” “What is the best way to wean my baby?” “What do I do when my child can’t sleep through the night?” and “Why is my pre-teen so angry?”.

Sometimes, you just want some company, to know that there are other fathers and mothers out there on the same challenging journey you are on.

And sometimes you just need someone to listen – with care, with understanding, and without offering opinions, criticism or judgement.

“I found Madeleine to be warm, organised, able to answer questions clearly, thoughtful, respectful, professional and authentic.” A father attending the Support Call, Los Angeles

Please join Madeleine Winter for this Support Call by phone/video conference call.  The group will focus on providing much-needed listening time, and there is also time for questions and answers about using Hand in Hand Parenting in your family.

Not sure if it is for you? Madeleine loves to help: why not book a Free 20Minute Consultation, and she can help direct you to the best resources and support.

Madeleine has over 30 years experience working with families and teaching the Hand in Hand approach.  The parent of a teen, she brings deep experience to supporting parents.

Thankyou, Madeleine, for creating a safe and confidential place to share the ups and downs of it all. I’ve learned so much about my own story and my triggers and how to handle them better.  This group has helped me plan for the challenges, and be kind to myself and my kids when it doesn’t go so well!  A mother of a 9 and 5 year old, Baltimore

JOIN MADELEINE HERE: https://madeleinewinter.com/events/parent-support-calls2/

This is what one parent said about these groups:

“Meeting with this group of parents weekly helped me keep on track with parenting the way I really want to. Something special happens when we get on the call – I think it is that we can see we are not alone!” Mother of 3 and 7 year olds, Sydney

Who: Parents of children 0-12. This group is open to all mums and dads, but it will help if you have some familiarity with Hand in Hand Parenting.  If you have pre-teen or early teen children, you will also find this group helpful.

When: Join for as many calls as you can manage. Call length will depend on the number of participants. but plan on 90 minutes.

When: Support Calls run weekly on
Wednesdays 6:00pm Pacific/Thursdays late morning Sydney time, Australia

Run every Third Thursday of the month at 11am PST on Zoom.
75-90mins based on number of participants.
$55 USD/parent/session. Reduced fee spot available by need.
Are you a BIPOC parent raising a neurodivergent child of color?
Do you wish for a safe, nonjudgmental parenting community where you feel seen for navigating the complexity of raising your neurodivergent child/ren of color?

Do you wish for support around growing in and un-learning ways of parenting to meet the needs of your child/ren better?

If you found yourself nodding all the way, then this listening circle is for you! Parenting your child with multiple differences in a world not built to affirm and celebrate them is a painful and isolating journey. You find yourself tasked with an impossible ask – to raise your child in a way that celebrates them and preserves their dignity, self-worth and spirit, while the world strips them of these very things.

Contrary to what you may have been told, you don’t have to do this alone. Tending to your spirit and finding strength in community may be one of the most important things you can do to support your beautiful child. So come join us.

Priya is a first generation South Asian neurodivergent mother raising her own neurodivergent teenager who lives, works and plays on Duwamish lands (Seattle, USA). She is a child therapist, a parenting consultant and a co-author of the book ‘Parenting at the Intersections: Raising Neurodivergent Children of color’. This group will be facilitated in English.

Hand in Hand provides programs for all people who are caring for children in any capacity. We occasionally offer specialized programs for people in particular caregiving roles and/or identity groups to provide support specific to their experiences. This event is for any parent who identifies as Black, Indigenous or Person of Color and is raising a neurodivergent* child of color.
*The term ‘Neurodivergent’ encompasses a wide umbrella of neuro-disabilities such as ‘ADHD’, ‘Autism”, ‘Tourette’s’, ‘OCD’  and learning disabilities such as ‘Dyslexia’ , ‘Dyspraxia’ etc.  No formal diagnosis is required to participate. Self-diagnosis or questioning parents, and parents of all genders welcome!
